BARRACUDA SWIM CLUB
OF NORTHEAST TENNESSEE

TEAM FEES

There are several categories of fees members of the team pay to participate.  The USA Swimming Annual Registration Fee allows a child to participate in practices and meets and provides a secondary insurance policy for the child.  Training Fees are assessed based on a child's practice group.  Meet Fees are charged when a child elects to participate in a swimming meet. In addition, each family has an annual Fundraising Obligation which helps offset the cost of running the club without increasing our Training Fees.

USA Swimming Annual Registration Fee

The USA Swimming Annual Registration Fee is $50 per swimmer for the year.  Annual dues are good through December 31st.  The USA Swimming Fee is due when a child joins the team, and is renewed for the next year in November.  New swimmers who join after September 1st have their USA Swimming fees paid through December 31st of the following year.  A seasonal membership fee option ($30) is available from May 1 - September 1.

BSC Training Fees
The Barracuda Swim Club is a year-round organization which employs full-time, professional coaches to provide an exceptional experience for our swimmers.  As such, expenses occur even when a child may be out of the water.  Our training fee structure has been developed and policies approved to provide a sound fiscal foundation for our club.  Training fees are based on the practice group a swimmer is assigned to by the coach.  Monthly dues are due the first week of each month unless other arrangements have been made with the Club Treasurer.

Financial Assistance

If a child qualifies for the Federal Free or Reduced School Lunch Program, significant discounts in both USA Swimming and BSC fees are available.  See a coach or contact our Treasurer for details.

Some other considerations:

  • There are discounts for families with more than one child on the team.  Two children qualify for a 10% discount per child; Three children qualify for a 25% discount per child; Four children qualify for a 40% discount per child.  Actual amounts are detailed on the payment plan pages.
  • A new swimmer may receive a one-week free trial period before fees are due.
  • Those families choosing the lump-sum payment option receive a 10% discount on training fees; Those families who choose the 2-payment option receive a 5% discount
  • The annual USA Swimming fee must be paid at the time a swimmer joins the team.  The coach will hold the check until the try-out period is over.
  • All fees are due on the first of the month.
  • Those new swimmers who join after the first of a month may have their fees adjusted by the coach.
  • Swimmers who change training groups during the year will have their fees prorationally adjusted.
  • We recognize that novice swimmers may be reluctant to commit for a full year of swimming with our team.  Blue & Silver swimmers have the option of paying on a month-to-month basis subject to the conditions listed on this plan's payment schedule page.
  • We further realize that some swimmers use BSC to improve for their high school participation, yet are reluctant to pay for their coach's expertise, which they view as free during high school season. However, these swimmers are benefiting from year-round coaching, and they should be fiscally responsible for their fair share of supporting the year-round program. Consequently, a reduced high school option has been established.

Meet Fees

Meet fees are based on the number of events a swimmer is entered in for a meet (Typically, $4-$5 per event).  In addition, swimmers participating in away meets are assessed a $5 per day amount to help cover the cost of sending a coach to the meet.  Meet fees are due within one week from the time the events and fees are posted.  Typically, this is about 10 days prior to the actual meet.  It is important that meet fees are paid when the events entered in the meet are posted to the web site, as we must remit the entry fees to the host club when the entries are sent in.

Fundraising Contribution

The dues paid by our members do not cover the cost of running the club.  In order to keep fees affordable, each family is expected to assist the team meet its financial obligations by participating in fundraising activities during the year.  The minimum family contribution toward this effort is $150.  While this may seem daunting, several simple fundraising activities are already in place.

Past Due Accounts

While most members are very responsible in paying their obligations in a timely manner, the Board felt that a codified policy was necessary to deal with any delinquent accounts.  Please take the time to familiarize yourself with the policy.  If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact one of the site coaches or our Team Treasurer.  CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE POLICY.

Returning Collegiate Swimmers

The club feels that collegiate swimmers returning to practice with the Barracudas can be positive role models and an inspiration for our age-group swimmers.  Since most collegiate swimmers cannot practice with the club for the entire year, the following dues policy has been established:
    * All collegiate swimmers must be registered with USA Swimming for insurance purposes.
    * If a collegiate swimmer is participating for less than a week (for example, while home for Thanksgiving break), that week will be provided at no cost.
    * If a collegiate swimmer is participating for more than a week (for example, during the summer), dues will be prorated based on the swimmer's attendance.
