TIME STANDARDS
Time standards (also called "qualifying times" or "cuts") are
used at some meets, especially championship-level meets, to restrict the level
of swimmers who may compete. At most meets with a time standard, they
present a minimum time that a swimmer must achieve in order to attend the meet
and/or swim in an event. Some meets, such as the District Meet, have an
upper-level time standard that a swimmer may not have bettered in order to swim
that event in the meet.
Special time standards are used by USA Swimming to designate
a general level of achievement derived from the National Top 16 database.
These are the National Motivational Times, designated by "B", "BB", "A", "AA",
"AAA", and "AAAA" . We award our swimmers achievement patches based on
these times at our annual picnic.
Listed below are links to local and national time standards.
Some meets create their own time standards, and those would be found in the meet
information.
